Lot Essay

The present lot allows the user to wear the microphone as a watch and put the cord up the sleeve and into the recording device, presumably concealed beneath a coat. The speakers and earphones then allow the user to listen to what has been recorded.

This interesting lot allows a small view into the high-tech spy world of the late 1950s and 1960s. It is interesting to see the size of the instruments and how in the 50 years since this lot's production, such surveillance equipment has become so much smaller and more discreet.
