a set of four jars, the first, of globular form, undecorated, inscribed XI-59-P and 1938.484.1; the second, with flat base and flaring sides sloping upward to rim, polished red slip overall, signed on the base, Marie + Julian, inscribed XI-60-P and 1938.484.2; the third, of globular form, painted in buff over a red polished slip, with an encircling band of "negative" semi-circular motifs alternating with stepped motifs, signed on the base, Marie + Julian, inscribed XI-61-P and 1938.484.3; the fourth, with flat base and rounded body sloping upward to rim, painted in matte over a polished black slip, with a band of serrated motifs encircling beneath the rim, signed on the base, Marie + Julian, and inscribed XI-62-P and 1938.484.4
