composed of an expanding wood stem, wrapped before the mouthpiece with finely plaited porcupine quillwork, in a banded pattern with black, white and red-dyed quills, trimmed with a short panel of brass tacks, a tuft of red-dyed horsehair secured with red wool trade cloth, hide fringe and a beaded tassel, composed of blue and white pony beads alternating with small brass beads, inset into a catlinite bowl, tall and flaring, with short blunt anterior section
