A George III silver tray
Mark of Paul Storr, London, 1818
Shaped oval, on four shell, foliate scroll and grapevine bracket feet, the border cast with shells and foliate scrolls, with two foliate double-scroll handles, the field finely engraved with a female figure resting on an anchor and revealing a coat-of-arms, sailing ships in the distance, and surrounded by a frieze of allegorical figures representing trade with Mauritius, and with a landscape and a seascape below representing Port Louis, Mauritius, marked on reverse of border, also stamped '696'

The arms are the same as on the previous lot.
The inscription reads 'À SON EXCELLENCE Robert Townshend Farquhar L'ILE MAURICE RECONNOISSANT, 1818' which may be translated as 'The Isle of Mauritius expresses gratitude to His Excellency Robert Townshend Farquhar.'
