Mark of Jean-Baptiste-Claude Odiot, Paris, 1809-1819
Hemispherical, with stepped column stem on a circular base resting on four lion's paw and scroll feet, with rope-twist, ribbon-tied laurel, palmette, and cast gryphon and classical mask borders, the upper body applied with an elaborate border of leaping beasts, classical masks, cornucopiae and grapevines on a scrolling foliate ground, the two handles formed as cast female winged seraphs on scroll and palmette plinths, the cover with bud finial and palmette, scroll and paterae calyx, the plain liner with shell bracket handles, marked on base, stem, cover and liner
