The earlier pendant shield record the the name and position of the member of the guild. A number of the later pendant shields give the name of the inn-keeper and his inn, for example 'Im Oberin Amt ist Ober-meister Johannes Laÿer, Kronen-Wirth von Steinenberg Ano 1779', which translated reads 'Of high rank is Master Johannes Laÿer, Keeper of the Crown in at Steinenberg 1779.'
