Lot Essay

Hjerten spent several summers painting in the Danish seaside resort of Gilleleje. Of her Badestrand Beach painting the critic August Brunius said
'Her beach...is an exquisite work by a genuine colouristic imagination'
'On the beach' reflects Hjerten's expressive use of colour and handling of the paint surface.
