A Sevres-style oval gilt-metal-mounted bowl
LATE 19TH CENTURY
Painted with riders in a battlefield with a marching army in the distance, within an oval, richly gilt tooled cartouche reserved on a dark-blue-ground decorated with raised-gilt diaper and cell-pattern scrolls, the reverve painted with a castle in landscape before a lake, below twin gilt-metal winged caryatid supports and a broad border of interlaced foliage and flowerheads, on a pedestal base and canted gilt-metal plinth (restored)
