A Canteen of Napoleon III Silver and Silver-Gilt Flatware
The knives with mark of Dominique Laporte, the remainder mark of Nicolas-Pierre Béguin, Paris, third quarter 19th century, each also stamped Odiot
Each piece with a leaf and scroll handle, the back with a cartouche engraved with a crest and initials, comprising:
Top Tray
24 table forks 24 table spoons
Middle Tray
24 knives with steel blades
24 knives with silver-gilt blades
Bottom Tray
24 teaspoons 6 serving spoons
2 serving knives 2 pierced ladles
All contained in a fitted oak case, with a brass plaque engraved: Odiot Orfèvre du Roi à Paris
And the following loose:
2 parcel-gilt serving forks
2 parcel-gilt serving spoons
And the following contained in a fitted leather covered case:
24 ice cream spades, Maker's mark PQ axe between, later
199oz. weighable silver.
