FLUTE DE PAN
Nazca, env. 300-600 après J.C.
Instrument à vent typique de la culture andine décoré entièrement sur une des faces d'une représentation du démon félin en train de voler et tenant une tête trophée dans une main et un bâton dans l'autre, portant un masque sur la bouche et une coiffe serpent, avec de nombreuses têtes trophées accrochées à la ceinture et des banderoles à têtes de serpents projetées vers l'avant. Coloration vive de brun dilué, orange, rouge profond, ocre, vert d'eau et blanc. Le revers est simplement décoré de diverses couleurs.

The prototypical Andean wind instrument with nine blow holes and painted on one side with an all-encompassing figure of the "demon-feline" in a flying posture grasping a trophy-head in one hand and a staff in the other, wearing a mouth mask and serpent headdress, with numerous trophy-heads hanging from his belt and serpent-headed streamers issuing forth, in vivid shades of brown, orange, deep red, ochre, aquamarine green and white.
