with a view of Wuhan in Hubei Province with American paddle steamers, European frigates and Chinese junks before Hongs with their national flags flying, numerous European figures visible in horse drawn carriages, on foot and in palanquins, Chinese figures also visible at work and at leisure, all before a church, out buildings and shop fronts many of which are identified in script, the reverse with a boy and a tethered waterbuffalo, outlined in calligraphy and set beneath a pine tree on the banks of a river -- 20in. (51.7cm.) wide open, wooden stretchers.
