Lot Essay

Haring made a series of drawings between December 1980 and January 1981 which constituted his first New York solo exhibition. This lot, together with lot 211, are part of a series of seventeen printed by the artist after his exhibited drawings. Haring considered them to 'form a perfect time capsule of my begining in New York City' (Cantz, Keith Haring, Editions on Paper, 1982-1990, Basel, 1990, p.174)
