Lot Essay

This work is recorded in Martin Dieterle's archives.

Dated by Robaut to 1855-1870, the present work, depicting the Villa Worth in the background, was most probably painted in 1865 when Corot was staying with the Worth family in Suresnes, where he taught their children how to paint.
