A rare Victorian miniature travelling hydrometer,
a plaque on the lid of the case stamped EXCISE SIKES HYDROMETER No37 L. OERTLING LONDON, further with a crown and VR, the case containing a brass hydrometer, nine weights each initialled L.O., an ivory-mounted thermometer stamped J. KICKS LONDON and EXCISE, and a brass-mounted loup, the case -- 12.5cm. (4 7/8in.) wide; and a book of spirit tables TO BE USED WITH SIKES'S HYDROMETER, issued by H.M. Customs and Excise by Darling & Son, Ltd, London, 1916
