An unusual late 18th-Century brass [?]parallelograph,
signed THOS JONES'S PATENT NO46, comprising a square frame constructed with three horizontal bars and five bars at right angles, with four further horizontal bars beneath terminating in a spiked tip arranged to form a straight line between the opposite corners of the frame, a further bar fixed at a 45° angle on the upper face graduated in degrees and inches, the whole arranged to change shape from square to parallelogram, with the graduated bar pierced along its length to accomodate a clamp screw with small graduated vernier, the corners of the frame punched A, O, B and 8, and three of the bars stamped D, 2 and 6 -- 11cm.
