signed Cary, London and engraved on the lid J. R. Young 1st Prize for Military Surveying Royal Military College December, 1871, with silvered scale and vernier, magnifier, tangent screw alidade adjustment, red and green swinging shades, mirror and telescope with rotating eyepiece disc containing one clear and three smoked lenses, in a fitted mahogany case with lignum vitae stringing and key -- 11.9cm. (4 3/8in.) wide
