A late 19th-Century 12-inch diameter terrestrial table globe,
MALBY'S TERRESTRIAL GLOBE Compiled from the latest & MOST AUTHENTIC SOURCES, Including all the recent Geographical Discoveries. AGENTS GEORGE PHILIP & SON, MAP & ATLAS PUBLISHERS, 32. Fleet Street, LONDON. 1896, made up of twelve hand-coloured engraved gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial graduated in degrees, hours and minutes, the Greenwich meridian ungraduated, the ecliptic graduated in twelve times 1-30° with sigils for the houses of the Zodiac, and in days of the month, the oceans with an analemma, the continents with nation states shaded green or yellow and hand-outlined in yellow, orange, green red and blue, finely detailed showing towns, cities, rivers and mountains (discolouration and spotting throughout, cracking to North America, rubbing and poor repairs to Antarctica) with a stamped brass hour dial and meridian, the latter graduated in four quadrants, in a mahogany table stand with paper horizon ring showing degrees of amplitude and azimuth, days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac and minutes for clock adjustment in relation to the Sun, signed Engraved by Cha.s Malby , raised on three fluted legs united by cross stretchers to the meridian support -- 48.5cm.
