A 19th-Century lacquered-brass compound monocular microscope,
signed on the barrel J.P. Cutts Sutton & Son Opticians to Her Majesty. Sheffield & London, the eyepiece with graduated draw-tube, the barrel on a short arm from the main limb incorporating vertical rack and pinion adjustment, with micrometer fine focusing, the mechanical stage with swivelling top plate and plano-concave substage mirror, the main limb tilting between two shaped uprights from a Y-shaped base, with two eyepieces, 1 and ¼in. objectives in labelled canisters, stage forceps and bull's-eye, and some miscellaneous items in a draw in the mahogany carrying case, with brass handle -- 41.1cm. (16 1/8in.) high
