THREE MAGNIFICENT CABERNET SAUVIGNON SENTINELS OF DIAMOND CREEK: GRAVELLY MEADOW, RED ROCK TERRACE AND VOLCANIC HILL
Property of a Southern California Gentleman
Removed from professional wine storage maintaining ideal temperature and humidity controls
The Vineyards of Diamond Creek are named after three distinct soil types found among the 79 hillside acres purchased by Al Brounstein in the late 1960s. The three sights, planted in 1968 with contraband budwood from two Bordeaux First Growth estates, each yield a distinct wine of great structure and complexity.
Gravelly Meadow, as its name implies, lies on more level ground, five acres to be precise, of rocky, gravelly soil. It's the coolest sight of the three.
Red Rock Terrace comprises aproximately seven steep acres of redish clay due to the oxidizing iron elements in the soil and tends to be the more elegantly styled of the three.
Volcanic Hill is a South-facing slope of ancient white ash which gets excellent sun exposure and tends to yield the earthiest, most structured and longest lived wine of the three.
Each are known as long distance runners. Presented in unique and equally rare Balthazar (twelve-liter) format these wines are a significant addition to any great cellar or party of 60 or more!
