Lot Essay

Betsy Westendorp-Osieck is the youngest artist from the so-called 'Amsterdam Joffers' group. She attended the Rijksacademie in Amsterdam following lessons from Lizzy Ansingh (1875-1959). Betsy Westendorp-Osieck had a studio on the Herengracht and later on the Lairessestraat.

In the present lot the houses numbered (from right to left) 446, 448 and 450 on the Herengracht are depicted.

The present lot will be sold with the following publication: J.H. van Eikeren, De Amsterdamse Joffers, Bussum 1947.
