A Meissen Kakiemon yellow-ground teabowl and saucer
CIRCA 1735, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARKS, TEABOWL WITH IMPRESSED THREE CIRCLES MARK, SAUCER WITH IMPRESSED **
Painted in the Kakiemon manner, the yellow-ground exterior of the teabowl reserved with two ogival quatrefoil cartouches with flowering shrubs and a bird in flight, the cartouches divided by flowering shrubs, the interior with a flower-spray, the saucer with a bird in flight by a meandering flowering shrub issuing from stylised rockwork, the yellow-ground underside with a butterfly and a meandering flowering branch, brown line rims (minute areas of wear to saucer and rim of teabowl)
