The elliptic table-tops, with their sunflowered and scalloped medallion framed by foliated ribbon borders, relate in their overall layout to that of a commode that has been dated to the 1780s, and attributed to the Dublin cabinet-maker, William Moore, who had previously worked with the Soho cabinet-makers Mayhew and Ince (M. Tomlin, Catalogue of Adam Period Furniture, Victoria and Albert Museum catalogue, London, 1982, no. U/5).
