A fine English mahogany month-going wall regulator
Dent, 61 Strand, London, No. 57740. Circa 1912
The 10¾ in. engraved silvered regulator dial signed DENT (within a triangle) CLOCKMAKER TO THE KING 61 STRAND & 4 ROYAL EXCHANGE LONDON 57740, all hands of blued steel within the typical regulator layout, the substantial movement with stoned plates with chamfered shoulders, four slightly tapering cylindrical pillars secured with blued steel screws to front and back plates, the high count train with delicate wheels having five crossings, maintaining power, deadbeat escapement mounted on the backplate with jewelled pallets and two-piece crutch with fine adjustment, the steel rod pendulum with cylindrical zinc bob and steel pointer swinging against a silvered calibrated beatscale secured to the panelled backboard, the movement backplate signed DENT (within a triangle) 61 STRAND LONDON 57740, original brass-cased weight, the movement and pendulum suspended from a solid iron block secured to the backboard of the solid mahogany case with arched top, long glazed sides and with elaborate foliate carving around the dial
