The case with brass pomegranate finial to brass-lined bell top flanked by four brass pineapple finials, the sides with brass handles above gilt-brass caryatid and foliage silk-backed sound frets, with further caryatid and foliage mounts to the front angles flanking the brass-lined front door, the base also brass-lined and raised on foliate scroll feet, the dial with foliate scroll and flowerhead spandrels to the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, the matted centre with date aperture, delicate pierced blued steel hands, the florally engraved arch with silvered subsidiary rings for chime/not chime and music selection for six tunes (Air, Minuet, March, Cotillion, March, Song) flanking a recessed silvered plaque signed Eardley Norton London 926, the six pillar movement with triple chain fusees and pivoted verge escapement with later silk suspension, with hour strike on bell and music on eight bells with fifteen hammers via a 4in. (10cm.) long pinned cylinder, with trip repeat for strike and music, the backplate engraved with floral scrolls, flowerheads and a basket of flowers around a cartouche signed Eardley Norton London, and further numbered 926 to the top right corner, similarly engraved movement securing brackets
