The breakarch case with brass handle to triple pad top, arched glazed side panels, the doors with moulded angles and secured by turn catches, on later block feet, the brass dial with foliate scroll spandrels to the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with calendar aperture and silvered signature plaque engraved John Holmes London, pierced blued steel hands, subsidiary silvered strike/silent ring in the arch, the four (formerly five) pillar movement with twin wire fusees and pivoted verge escapement later? pendulum with anti-friction crutch, hour strike on a later bell, the backplate engraved with leafy scrolls and flowerheads and with repeat signature to the centre, similarly engraved securing movement brackets; case formerly ebonised
