The case with fine floral marquetry to the plinth within a geometric marquetry border frame and on later skirted base, similar geometric marquetry border framing the rectangular trunk door centred by a large gadrooned flowering urn above the circular brass-framed lenticle, similar marquetry to the hood (lacking columns) surmounted by a later cornice, the 11 in. sq. dial signed Stephen Asselin LONDON on the silvered chapter ring with black painted pierced steel hands (restorations), the matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring (later hand) and decorated calendar aperture, the five pillar movement with anchor escapement and rack strike on a bell
