The case on six hairy paw feet to each corner of the concave-moulded base applied with silver foliate repoussé mouldings and with ripple wood mouldings, the six angles on the frieze set with florally pierced and engraved gilt-metal frets within D-ended frames, similar silver repoussé applied to the mouldings around the dial, the dial plate with florally engraved spandrels and florally engraved centre with single finely pierced and chamfered tulip-head brass hand, the brass chapter ring screwed to the dial plate and engraved with Roman chapters with sword-hilt half hour markers and brass ring at chapter VI to hinge out the movement with circular section gilt plates and four baluster pillars pinned to the top-plate signed Fridelinus Scalor with typical foliate pierced and engraved bridge to the blued steel going barrel ratchet and click, original calibrated countwheel with rosette-engraved centre, later continental foliate pierced bridgecock with balance spring regulation to the verge escapement of the going train with fusee and barrel (chain loose), typical gilt-metal foliate pierced and engraved gate (repaired) to the strike train with florally engraved resting barrel and gilt-metal mask-engraved hammer striking on a large pork pie bell in the base secured by a robust brass strap
