A Victorian engraved gilt-brass chronometer carriage timepiece

The elaborately designed case engraved all over with scrolling foliage, large viewing aperture to the top with foliate cast handle and leafy bud finials, the case mouldings deeply cast and chased with foliage, the out-set columns cast with foliage and palm leafs, the sides with glazed silvered panels engraved with first quality scrolling foliage, solid rear door engraved with foliage and with spring loaded catch, the dial with a foliate engraved chapter disc with painted Roman chapters and blued fleur-de-lys hands, within a foliate engraved gilt mask, the movement with four turned pillars rivetted to the front plate and secured with blued screws to the backplate, single chain fusee with maintaining power, the escapement with large gilt platform, foliate engraved bridgecock with diamond endstone to the cut bimetallic compensated balance with flat blued steel hairspring, Earnshaw escapement with finely sculpted foot to the detent, jewelled locking stone and unusual adjustable banking assembly, steel regulation slide with aperture through the back of the platform to an engraved scale affixed to the back-plate engraved James Mc.Cabe, Royal Exchange London.
