The rising hood with stepped top and ebonised spiral-twist columns, concave throat mouldings, the trunk door with panels of bird and flower marquetry flanking an oval lenticle, the similarly inlaid plinth on later skirting, the 10in. square brass dial signed Nathaniel Pyne London along the lower edge, winged cherub mask spandrels to the silvered skeletonised Roman and Arabic chapter ring with stylised fleur-de-lys half-hour markers, the matted centre with date aperture and subsidiary seconds ring, blued steel hands, the five ringed pillar movement with anchor escapement and outside countwheel strike on a bell
