A French gilt-brass striking carriage clock with seconds ring, circa 1860
The case elaborately cast in high relief with birds, flowers and rocaille, with conforming decoration to the solid rear door, the white enamel Roman dial intersected by an unusual large seconds ring at XII, with blued steel moon hands, inscribed BREVET D'INVENTION S.G.D.G, the eight day twin barrel movement with replaced lever escapement, with strike on bell to back plate stamped for JAPY FRÈRES and numbered 1180 -- 7in. (18cm.) high to fold of handle
