The waisted case painted with flowers and with finial modelled as a Chinaman with parasol, glazed side panels, the front door with female figure relief mount emblematic of Astronomy, the foliate cast dial with individual white enamel Roman cartouche chapters and blued steel hands, with false plate to the eight day twin barrel movement with five back-pinned tapering pillars joining the rectangular plates, verge escapement with silk suspension and cycloidal cheeks, high position calibrated countwheel and strike on bell to top of case, signed on the back plate Balthazar Martinot Paris; and the wall bracket en suite; case 19th century and redecorated, movement early 18th century -- 43in. (109.5cm.) high overall
