A William and Mary walnut and floral marquetry longcase clock
The hood with later stepped top, spiral-twist pilasters, convex throat mouldings above trunk door with panels of bird and flower marquetry and lenticle glass, the sides of the trunk with rectangular line inlays, on later plinth, the 11in. square brass dial with cherub and coronet spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with elaborate sword hilt half hour markers and diamond half quarter hour markers, signed John Jones London, the matted centre with ringed winding holes, engraving around the circular date aperture, with subsidiary seconds ring, later hands, the eight day four ringed pillar movement with anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on bell; built up cheekboards, dial and movement associated to case -- 91in. (231cm.) high
