Eastman Kodak Co. invited Alexander F Victor to Rochester to inspect the yet to be launched 16mm direct reversal film that was then being developed. Victor changed his plans to launch a 28mm camera in favour of 16mm and was sent samples of the film for testing. Although EKC urged Victor (and Bell & Howell) not to launch their 16mm products before the offical 1 June 1923 launch Victor managed to get a few cameras and projectors on to the market and subsequently boasted of having produced the first 16mm camera. The camera was shown to the SMPE as early as May 1923.
