Modelled as wolves or hounds heads
12 in. (30.5 cm.) high;
together with a marble socle inscribed 'TEMPERANZA', 19th century - 7¼ in. (18.5 cm.) high (3)

Lot Essay

The wolf's head in the Myddelton arms recalls a distant ancestor Blaidd Rhudd (the 'Bloody Wolf') of Meirionydd. Amusingly, the Duke of Beaufort noted on his visit in 1684 that a wolf was kept chained in the dry moat at Chirk.
