These chivalric knights - originally from a set of at least four - appear to have been introduced by Pugin and Crace as embellishments for his 'Gothic' chimney pieces in the Bow Drawing Room and Dining Room which he remodelled from circa 1845. They are clearly visible in situ in undated late 19th Century photographs of the rooms.
