Lot Essay

This panel appears to be part of the 'antiquarian' panelling introduced by A.W.N. Pugin into the Dining Room of the newly completed East or Family wing at Chirk around 1845-50. A closely related panel is visible in the undated later 19th Century photograph of the room on the previous page.
