A BRASS PLAQUE
MID-20TH CENTURY
Inscribed 'CHIRK CASTLE', the adjacent wrought-iron gates and screen made for Robert Myddelton Esq. of Chirk Castle in 1719-1721 by the brothers Robert and John Davies of Bersham, Nr. Wrexham, originally on the North front of the Castle, they were removed to the New Hall Entrance in 1770 and erected in their present position in 1888, in 1950 Colonel Ririd Myddelton M.V.O. placed them in the guardianship of the minister of works under the provisions of the Ancient Monuments Act
