With rococo spandrels, engraved to centre and subsidiary dials for seconds and calendar, signed 'Mumford, SCARBRO', the twin going four pillar movement with anchor escapement chiming on a bell, with ogee moulded hood flanked by fluted canted corners, the dial and movement associated

Lot Essay

There are three longcase clocks recorded in the 1795 Inventory, two of which have a walnut case. The other, possibly this one, is more economically described in the Candles Passage as '8 Days Clock and Case 1.15.0'.

The clockmakers 'Mumford Scarbro.' are apparently othyerwise unrecorded.
