Lot Essay

This triptych is clearly by the same hand as the Head of Christ in the Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria (no. 7); both are attributed by Todini to the Master of the Pietà di San Costanzo, so named from the Pietà with Saints of 1469, now in the Church of San Pietro, Perugia (Todini, op. cit., pls. 842-3).
