Lot Essay

Lady Catherine Margaret Powlett (1766-1807) was the daughter of Admiral Harry Powlett, 6th Duke of Bolton and Katherine Lowther. She married Sir William Henry Vane, 1st Duke of Cleveland and had issue. Through her marriage she gained the title of Countess of Darlington in 1792.
