Shown in a recumbent position with legs tucked under the body and head turned sharply to the side, the end of a stalk of lingzhi fungus grasped in its long beak, the remainder of the stalk acting as the handle of the cover formed by the bird's folded white wings, the rich blue tail feathers enhanced with ares of fine black and white mottling repeated on the neck
