Lot Essay

For a similar cloisonné enamel bird indentified as a dove, see the incense burner illustrated by C. Brown, Chinese Cloisonné: The Clague Collection, Phoenix Art Museum, 1980, pl. 61. Although the Clague figure is an incense burner and the head is turned, the body is also yellow and the shape of the head, beak and body are similar.
