Lot Essay

Russell was born in 1909 and studied painting under Datillo Rubbo. She exhibited with the Society of Artists in 1934 and 1935, and was still painting in the 1980s. A retrospective exhibition of her work was held at the Wolloomooloo Gallery, Sydney in October 1989.
