Lot Essay

The wardrobe, with pedimented façade and French-fashioned panels of silken figured satinwood, is designed in the elegant Neo-Grecian style of the 1870s as illustrated in C. & R. Light's, Registered Designs of Cabinet Furniture, 1880.

The Birmingham brass-founders Messrs. Robert Langebear & Co. are recorded at 102 Lichfield Street in Slater's City Directory of 1855.
