The rounded rectangular top with solid three-quarter gallery, above three panelled mahogany-lined frieze drawers, the central drawer enclosing a fitted interior of lidded wells and compartments, the pedestals with panelled doors enclosing a single shelf, flanked by reeded tapering columns, on bulb feet with brass caps and castors, the fitted drawer with two associated glass inkwells

Lot Essay

A very similar dressing-table was supplied by Gillows in 1813 for Hackwood Park, Basingstoke, together with a large suite of bedroom furniture. It was sold by the late 2nd Viscount Camrose, Hackwood Park, Christie's house sale, 20-22 April 1998, lot 364.
