The oval twin-flap top crossbanded in kingwood, above a frieze drawer and a simulated frieze drawer on the reverse, on turned tapering legs headed by fluted collars, with brass caps and castors, restoration to the banding, the handles replaced

Lot Essay

A related oval satinwood Pembroke table with crossbanded top and turned tapering 'columnar' legs was supplied in 1797 to William Tufnell for Langleys, Essex by the Royal cabinet-maker, Charles Elliott. The cost was £6 6s and it came with a leather cover costing 13s (E. T. Joy, 'Charles Elliott, Royal Cabinet-Maker', Connoisseur, June, 1959, pp. 34-38, figs. 2, 3 and 8).
