The front decorated with rectangular panels of landscapes at the top and of mythological animals at the bottom, with an extensive court scene, the reverse with flowers and birds, restorations

Lot Essay

Bisham Abbey dates from the 13th century. It was at one time home to the Montacute family, Earls of Salisbury and then later, from the 16th century, the Hoby family. It is now the headquarters of the National Sports Council.
