Lot Essay

The grate incoporates elements of the design attributed to George Bullock in the exhibition The Fashionable Fireplace, 1660 - 1840, Temple Newsam House, 1985, p.30, no.22. and further by an unsigned pencil drawing by George Bullock at Tew Park, Great Tew Oxfordshire, and inscribed in his hand 'Plan of a Stove in Dining Room and Oak Study'.
