CIRCA 1765, MOCK ORIENTAL CHARACTER MARKS
The plates painted with a circular medallion of a boater on a river before a pagoda on an island and a further island, within a broad border decorated with four fan-shaped and four circular medallions of huts on islands and flower-sprays, within shaped rims (one extensively cracked and repaired, the second with small footrim chip); the heart-shaped serving-dish similarly decorated with a trefoil-shaped medallion painted with a boater on a river before a pagoda on an island and a further island, with three fan-shaped and four circular medallions of huts on islands and flower-sprays (hairline crack and chipping to rim)
