The backplate modelled in relief as a chihuaha, in original Coalbrookdale 'Berlin black' paint finish, stamped on the drip pan and base no 85297, No 14 and with diamond design registration stamps

This design, number 85297, was registered and patented by the Coalbrookdale Iron Foundry at the Public Records Office on 10th June 1852 and had become stand no 214 in their 1875 Castings Catalogue, Section II, page 233.
